description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ginding pin having a long service life by providing a cylindrical area where a groove having a contour corresponding to an edge of notch to be machined can be formed. SOLUTION: A cylindrical grinding pin is supported with a cylindrical metal core 132 mounted to a spindle of a grinder. Since the cylindrical shape of the pin, a series of adjacent grooves 142, 144 in an area of material to be ground can be machined when a groove 140 has worn and out of operation. The pin is composed of resin bound diamond, resin bound grinding grid or glass binding material. In use, notch grinding is carried out in a disc edge by bringing a working groove of resin bound diamond grinding wheel into contact with an edge of a semiconductor disc. When, after several times of notch grinding operation, the groove 140 in operation is worn out, another groove 142 is formed in the resin so that the notch grinding operation can continue without replacing the pin. |
