PRODUCTION OF OXOALCOHOL HYDROXYBENZOATE ESTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxoalcohol hydroxybenzoate ester without needing a solvent and without using a preliminarily distilled pure alcohol. SOLUTION: This method for producing an oxoalcohol hydroxybenzoate ester comprises subjecting a hydroxybenzoic acid (for example, 4hydroxybenzoic acid) to an esterification reaction with a 7-21C oxoalcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst and other substances contained in the hydroxylation reaction product of an olefin or subjecting a lower alcohol hydroxybenzoate ester to a transesterification reaction with the oxoalcohol under the same conditions.
