description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety at earthquake even when the ground directly under a building is digged by constructing an underground wall on the outer periphery of the building, and providing a horizontal plane member capable of transmitting horizontal force and compression force therebetween. SOLUTION: After constructing an underground wall 2 in the condition of surrounding an existing building 1, the ground between the underground wall 2 and the building 1 is drilled. After drilling, a plane member 3 is horizontally interposed between the underground wall 2 and the building 1, and it is fixed by the use of bolts and nuts. Hereat, when the space between the underground wall 2 and the building 1 is wide, a slab 6 is projected, a pane member 3 is interposed between the extreme end of the slab 6 and the building 1, or the slab 6 is projected from the building 1 side toward the underground wall 2 side, and the plane member 3 is interposed between both slabs. Because the existing building 1 is surrounded with the plane member 3 on the nearly whole periphery, at earthquake, almost horizontal force and compression force generated by shake of the building 1 can be transmitted to the peripheral underground wall 2.
