TELEVISION RECEIVER WITH DIVERSITY FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that conducts optimum diversity with respect to quality for a viewer of the whole reproduced information including audio information. SOLUTION: The television receiver conducts diversity depending on a reception state and is provided with demodulation means 2, 3 that demodulate a composite video signal and an audio signal from the received signal, vertical timing detection means 41, 81, 82, 83, 5 that detect the timing of a vertical synchronizing signal in the composite video signal, a distortion detection means 3A that discriminates it when distortion of the audio signal exceeds a prescribed level to generate a distortion detection signal, and a corneal means 5 that executes a 1st diversity operation based on a timing detected by the vertical timing detection means and executes a 2nd diversity operation in response to the distortion detection signal.
