Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper for a piano, capable of improving durability and reducing material cost through the use of other materials than felt, and freely achieving a damping characteristic suitable for a string to be damped. SOLUTION: A damper 11 has a string contact part 17, and allows or stops sound generation through the vibration of a string S, as a result of the contact and separation of the string contact part 17 with and from the string S, interlocked with the operation of a keyboard 2. The string contact part 17 is made of a plurality of laminated vibration control materials 18a, 18b and 18c different in material and hardness from each other. According to this construction, string vibration energy comes to have a frequency component attenuated with one of the vibration control materials 18a to 18c of the string contact part 17, so far as the component is within a range corresponding to the hardness of the material. At the same time, a frequency component is attenuated with other vibration control materials having different hardness, so far as the component is in other ranges corresponding to the hardness. |
