This pigment is transparent, having multilayer structure so as to make a coating by hiding a substrate of different color; that is, this pigment is made up of at least one (pref. two) interference action layer 14 and one light-absorbing layer 11 (pref. sandwiched between the two layers 14) which absorbs at least part of visible light spectra and can be favorably provided in black color so as to absorb light by the whole visible light spectra. Alternatively, this pigment can be considered to afford so as to absorb light within a partial region of the visible light spectra outside one party of the colors of the pigment. The method for producing such a multilayer interference pigment is also disclosed.
