Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device emphasizing on a human-machine interface in which a state of extreme back light, follow light and low illuminance or the like is automatically discriminated, the disabled automatic adjustment is discriminated automatically and how to cope with it is informed to the user by voice and character signals. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is made up of a video image evaluation means 7 that evaluates a video state of a video signal outputted from a signal processing means 4 to provide an output of a video image state to a transmission/reception means 8 and the transmission/reception means 8 that sends a digital signal from the signal processing means 4 and data from the video evaluation means 7 to an external signal processing unit. The video image evaluation means 7 discriminates a video state received from an image pickup device 1 and the state is outputted externally by using the transmission/reception means 8 when the state is outside the adjustable range.
