Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a composite coating film for an automobile which exhibits a high brilliancy not seen before and has a noble design, by utilizing an alumina flake which tends to give prominence to some inconsistencies due to its high brilliancy as a brilliant pigment for a metallic coating material being capable of forming a film which has an excellent appearance and no inconsistencies. SOLUTION: A brilliant pigment-containing coating composition comprising an alumina flake and a viscosity-controlling agent as a coating composition for forming a coating film layer containing a brilliant pigment is coated by using a 2 coating-1 baking process, optionally by a 2 coating-2 baking or 2 coating-3 baking process to form a composite coating film, thereby providing a coating film having an excellent design not seen before.
