SOLUTION: This stump foot carrying device is the one provided with a pinching carrier chain 12a for pinching and carrying the stump foot part of a cut grain culm by cooperation with a pinching rail 11a and a chain rail 13a for backing-up a part of the pinching carrier chain 12a, which is positioned in a pinching carrier passage, to be a posture along the pinching carrier passage. The chain rail 13a is constituted so as to be freely change-over possible in a back-up actuation position and also in a back-up actuation releasing position which is apart from the pinching rail 11a.
