description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lay a submarine cable on a prescribed position by moving a frame body provided with wall surface sliding bodies, ground surface sliding bodies, a cable guide, and earth and sand removing means under water in a state where the frame body is hung down from and pulled by a floating crane. SOLUTION: A cable laying device M has a T-shaped frame body 10 equipped with ground surface sliding skids 12, wall surface sliding skids 12, and jet nozzles 15 and a cylindrical cable guide 13 having an intake port which is extended to the lower section of the frame body 10 from a point near the upper center of the body 10. The crane of a floating crane hangs up and sinks the device M in the sea to a prescribed depth and a cable C is set to the cable guide 13. Then the earth and sand on the bottom of a dug groove D is removed by spouting a water jet and, at the same time, the cable C is successively laid by respectively sliding the skids 12 and 11 on one side wall of the groove D and sea bottom G. Therefore, the cable C can be laid on the bottom of the groove D regardless of already existing pipes previously laid on the bottom of the groove.
