PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the overlook of the time limit for the transmitting/receiving documents by using a time limit management table, which manages the transmitting/receiving documents having time limit and a time limit monitoring program which periodically monitors the time limit management table and checks the time limit. SOLUTION: An electronic mail system 20, having a document production function and an electronic main transmitting/receiving function, is connected to a server device 23 of the system 20 via a LAN 21 and a WAN 22. When a user sets a transmitting time limit in advance, the system 20 checks the degree of completion at a fixed time interval for production of a document having the time limit. Then the system 20 manages the time limit, transmits the completed document to the opposite party (or parties) and outputs a message of the transmission to the user. Upon receiving a document, the system 20 sets a storage address and the received information to a document management table, comparing the title contained in a time limit management table with the opposite party to check whether or not the document has a time limit and when the document is received notifies the user of reception of the relevant document via a window screen.
