description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of upward displacement of a nozzle, to keep the pushing position at the cold time and to enable stable casting without the invasion and the leakage of molten metal by deciding the position of the casting nozzle from two directions of the horizontal direction and the vertical direction to casting rolls. SOLUTION: In the setting of the nozzle 1 to upper and lower rolls 2, 3, the stopping position of a tundish car 10 at the cold time is decided, and an air cylinder 13 is driven and a table 11 is pushed from the back side through a spring 12. Successively, the gap at the position in the vertical direction is decided with a positioning means 17 for the vertical direction. After deciding the last pushing position, the tip part of a rod in the positioning means 17 for the vertical direction is retracted. By this method, the generation of upward displacement of the nozzle which is a phenomenon peculiar to a horizontal pouring type continuous casting apparatus can be prevented.
