SOLUTION: In a pack belt material 11 composed of a transparent and nonmolten support layer 14 and a colored seal layer 15 covered with the support layer 14, a lateral seam 16 is formed by a welding machine 17 provided with heatable seal jaws 18, 19 and the middle part is cut by a cutter knife 23 to make a pack 12. The separated pack 12 is transferred to a control device 30 by a belt conveyor 26. The lower side of the lateral seam 16 is irradiated by a light source 33. The light which has passed through the lateral seam is detected by an optical sensor 32 arranged at the upper side and compared with an aimed value stored in the controller 30 to evaluate the quality of lateral seam 16 and further fed back to the control device of the pack producing machine.
