PRODUCTION OF STONE MATERIAL-TONE CERAMIC PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic plate having a stone material-like feeling and a massive feeling by a simple process. SOLUTION: Raw materials comprising 20-60 pts.wt. of clay, 2-15 pts.wt. of talc, 15-40 pts.wt. of feldspar and/or Koukaseki (rhyolitic porous lava), 15-40 pts.wt. of alabast...

description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic plate having a stone material-like feeling and a massive feeling by a simple process. SOLUTION: Raw materials comprising 20-60 pts.wt. of clay, 2-15 pts.wt. of talc, 15-40 pts.wt. of feldspar and/or Koukaseki (rhyolitic porous lava), 15-40 pts.wt. of alabaster, 0-20 pts.wt. of silica rock, 0-5 pts.wt. of wollastonite, 0-5 pts.wt. of bentonite, 0.1-5 pts.wt. of a pigment and 15-30 pts.wt. of water are mixed, extrusion molded, baked at 1,050 to 1,250 deg.C, abraded and lustered. Since mullite is formed by reaction of pyrophillite in feldspar, KOUKASEKI (rhyolitic porous lava), alabaster, clay, talc, especially in alabaster, a high-strength stone material-like ceramic plate can be obtained. The ceramic plate is excellently baked and fastened due to possession of feldspar and/or KOUKASEKI. The obtained ceramic plate is extremely dense and is preferably lustered by abrasion. The ceramic plate can be provided with a desired color tone since the pigment is blended.
