description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mold release characteristics of polylactic acid without detriment to its mechanical properties by adding to it a metal salt of an aliph. carboxylic acid and talc. SOLUTION: Polylactic acid which is an optical isomer mixture having an L-isomer content of 95% or higher and a wt. average mol.wt. of 50,000 or higher and is a polycondensate produced by the direct polycondensation by dehydration of lactic acid or by the dehydration of lactic acid to give lactide followed by its ring-opening polymn., 0.01-5.0wt.% metal salt of an aliph. carboxylic acid which is effective for decreasing the plasticization time of polylactic acid in iniection molding cycle, and 0.01-5.0wt.% talc which is a hydrated magnesium silicate mineral mainly comprising MgSi4 O10 (OH)2 are melt mixed and kneaded with an extruder or are blended before molding, thus giving a polylactic acid resin compsn. The compsn. may be prepd. by diluting master pellets contg. those additives with polylactic acid (base pellets). If necessary the compsn. may further contain other modifiers.
