description PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of the tip part of a rod and to reduce the frequency of exchange thereof by forming the tip part contacting with a material to be heated to a specific structure, in the rod for preventing fall-down of the material to be heated in a lower part charging type heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:In the lower part charging type heating furnace 1 for charging and heating steel slab 6, etc., charged from a lower inlet and outlet 3 by providing an induction heating coil 2, in order to prevent the fall-down of the charged steel slab 6, the upper end of the steel slab 6 is held with a tip part abutting metal 50 of the rod 10 of preventing its fall-down which vertically moves by the action of a hydraulic cylinder 11 to prevent the fall-down of the steel slab 6. The lower end part of the rod 40 for preventing the fall-down is made to be water-cooling type and the side surface is lined with a heat insulating material 46 and the tip part is infiltrated with the heat insulating material 48 and a metal material 50 is fitted to the tip part thereof. An inserting part 54 of the tip part abuting metal material 50 is supported with the supporting part 72 of a cylindrical cover 70, and a laying part 74 of the cover 70 is laid on a receiving seat block 60 and fixed with a shirl-stop pin. By this constitution, the service life of the tip part abutting metal 50 is prolonged and can efficiently be used for long time with small frequencies of the exchanges.
