description PURPOSE: To stably manufacture a low-cost aluminum support having excellent printing performance without fill-in and contaminant by using an abrasive material having specific new Moh's hardness in a method for grain surface treating the support having the step of graining surface of the support by rubbing abrasive material slurry to the support by a polishing brush. CONSTITUTION: In the surface treating step of an aluminum support for a printing plate, abrasive material slurry 4 applied to the surface of the aluminum support 1 is rubbed to the support 1 by a polishing brush 3. In this case, the abrasive material of the slurry 4 having 2 to less than 5 of new Moh's hardness is used. The abrasive material has particles in which the minimum piece/ maximum piece ratio of the three-dimensional size is 0.4 or more and the most acute angle is 45 deg. or more and which is adapted for aluminum hydroxide. Further, the mean particle size of the material is 5 to less than 200μm, and the concentration of the slurry is 5 to less than 90wt.%.
