description PURPOSE: To obtain an optical system by which the height can be measured by means of a simple measuring principle by projecting a laser luminous flux in a stripe pattern on a trolley wire while an electric inspection and measuring vehicle is running and detecting the interval between stripes of respective photodetectors, which have formed images of their beam of reflected light. CONSTITUTION: While an electric inspection and measuring vehicle 2 is running, a laser luminous flux Lb is reflected by both trolley wires T1 , T2 . Respective beams of reflected light LR1 , LR2 are transmitted through a semitransparent mirror 625, natural light such as the sky or the like is removed by an interference filter 631, and laser components in both stripe patterns S1 , S2 are extracted. They are image-formed sequentially by respective photodetectors at a CCD image sensor 633 by an image formation lens 632, and output signals of the respective photodetectors are input to a signal processing part 7 to be processed. The correspondent relationship between the height of the laser luminous flux Lb and the interval of stripes on the image-formed photodetectors is measured in advance, and its data is stored in a memory 7a at the processing part 7. Then, by referring to the data stored in the memory 7a , the height of the trolley wires T1 , T2 is found immediately.
