description PURPOSE:To control shock and load collapsing during acceleration and deceleration at the time of loading carried articles by providing a fixing mechanism for fixing a fork section to a guide section which guidingly supports the fork section oscillatably in the travel direction of a stacker crane and moreover fixing the fork section at a fixed position on an elevating body at the fixed stopping position of travel. CONSTITUTION:In a stacker crane for receiving and delivering carried articles 18, an elevating body 6 is elevatably provided along middle frames 3, 4 on a lower frame 1 having traveling wheels 15, 16, and a transfer machine 7 is loaded on the guide rail 8 having the radius of curvature R of the elevating body 6. At the time of loading work of the carried articles, the transfer machine 7 is positioned and fixed at a fixed position on the elevating body 6 by guide rollers 9, 10 with a clutch for executing the loading work. In accelerating the travel, the guide rollers 9,10 are released from a fixed state to oscillatably guide the transfer machine 7 in a travel direction, and external force caused by acceleration being due to the oscillation of the transfer machine 7 in the travel direction can therefore be set free by the pendulum phenomenon of the transfer machine.
