CONSTITUTION: Butanols (preferably isobutanol) in an amount of 1-3mol are devidedly or continuously added to 1mol N-methylol (meth)acrylamide and dehydration condensing reaction of N-methylol (meth)acylamide with butanols is started while separating the produced water and 0.3-5mol butanols are added thereto to react these components. After finishing the reaction, the concentration of the reaction solution is carried out while keeping pH of the reaction solution to 4-9.5, preferably 7.5-9.5 to provide the objective compound.
