description PURPOSE: To improve the removal rate of motor cores by directing air jet to falling shredded waste iron in a separation chamber installed in the discharge part of a conveyer for transporting shredded waste iron and sorting the waste into motor cores and iron components in the waste by wind force from the relation of the difference in air resistance. CONSTITUTION: A waste car 1 transported by a conveyer, etc., is crushed by a shredding machine 2 to be sorted into crushed waste iron and dust 35. Next, the crushed iron is sorted into magnetic waste iron and non-ferrous material 6 in a magnetic sorter 3, and the magnetic waste iron is sorted into motor cores 7 and iron components 8 in a motor core separator 4. In the separator 4, the waste iron supplied to a separator 11, in spontaneous falling from the end of a conveyer 9, is flown away by wind pressure by ejecting compressed air 18 from a blower 10 from a jet nozzle 17 so that the difference between the flight positions of separation 12a, 12b is produced by the weight difference for the separation.
