Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: To obtain a reversible thermal recording material capable of forming and erasing an image and not generating the change of developed color density even if used repeatedly by providing a protective layer composed of an ultraviolet or electron beam curable resin containing org. or inorg. pigment on a reversible thermal recording layer and setting the glossiness and surface roughness of the protective layer to specific values. CONSTITUTION: A reversible thermal recording layer containing a colorless or light-colored electron donating dye precursor and a reversible coupler allowing the dye precursor to develop a color and erasing the developed color by reheating is provided on the single surface of a support. A protective layer composed of an ultraviolet or electron beam curable resin containing org. or inorg. pigment is provided on the reversible thermal recording layer and the glossiness of the protective layer is set to 25% or less, the surface roughness Ra based on JISB 0601 thereof is set to 1.2μm or less and the solid coating amt. thereof is set to 0.5-5g/m . This reversible thermal recording material can be discolored by heat energy and a compsn. of a developed color state can be changed to an erased color state by reheating.
