description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance energy efficiency while enabling low power operation by electrically insulating a plurality of lower electrodes separated from each other and providing a film, which heats ink positioned in one passage, to one lower electrode. SOLUTION: An insulating oxide film 18 is formed on a lower substrate 15 constituted of silicon or glass and a plurality of separated lower electrodes 11 are arranged on the oxide film 18 and an upper substrate 14 is positioned at the constant height of the lower electrodes and lower electrodes 12 are formed on the F-surface of the substrate 14. A passage through which ink is easy to flow is formed on a part of the separated lower electrodes so as to be positioned between the upper substrate 14 and the insulating film 18 to allow heating resistor ink 16 to flow through this passage. When voltage is applied across the upper and lower electrodes 12, 11 of the region filled with the ink, a current flows through the ink and the ink is heated by the resistance of the ink itself. When the temp. of the heated ink becomes a b.p. or higher, an air bubble is generated and the ink is ejected from an ink emitting orifice 17 by this air bubble. |
