CONSTITUTION: Video data picked up by a video camera 20 are compressed by a compressing/expanding circuit 5 and compressed video data are stored in a built-in semiconductor memory 6 or a disk memory 13 in the video camera 20, and the stored video data are transferred to an external recorder 23. Furthermore, the external recorder 23 stores the transferred video data to a data storage while being compressed. The video camera 20 receives the compressed video data read from the external recorder 23 and expands the data and converts the data into a television signal. Thus, the video camera with video recording and reproduction function of a subminiature type able to record video data for a long time and the video camera system using the video camera are realized.
