DISK ARRAY DEVICE

PURPOSE: To repair records, whose data and parities are incompletely updated because of the occurrence of a fault of a power source in the middle of write operation, at the time of restart after fault restoration. CONSTITUTION: A disk array device 1 is provided with a synchronizing means which synchronizes rotations of plural disk devices 3a to 3e. A recording means is provided, and sectors consisting of data and parities are recorded with deviations among disk devices. An interruption condition discriminating means is provided, and each sector is provided with recording order information, and recording order information is read out at the time of the start after operation interruption for the fault to discriminate the condition for operation interruption. A repair means is provided to repair redundant information and data which are incomplete because of the interruption. Since incomplete information is recorded in at most one place of disk mediums even at the time of operation interruption due to the fault in the middle of write operation, data or parity mismatching can be repaired at the time of restart.
