CONSTITUTION:gamma-Coronal of the formula IV is produced by carrying out carbon- increasing epoxidization reaction of dihydro-gamma-ionone of the formula I with a methylene halide in an organic solvent in the presence of a base to obtain 4-(6,6-dimethyl-2-methylenecyc1ohexy1)-2-methyl-1,2-epoxybutane of the formula II, contacting the compound with a metal alkoxide of the formula M(OR)3 (M is Al or B; R is 1-4C alkyl or benzyl) or with lithium diisopropylamide in an organic solvent and finally oxidizing the obtained 4-(6,6-dimethyl-2- methylenecyclohexyl)-2-methylenebutan-1-ol of the formula III in an organic solvent in the presence of an oxidizing agent.
