GROOVED MASTER DISK FOR OPTICAL DISK AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide the master disk for realizing the optical disk improved in stability of tracking and stability of signal quality. CONSTITUTION:A resin substrate 1 is formed by selectively mixing dyes with a resin so as to meet the wavelength of the laser beam to be used, thereby adjusting the reflectivity (or refractive index). This resin substrate 1 is first mounted on a working device and spiral tracking grooves 2 are formed on the surface of the resin substrate 1 by cutting with a diamond cutting tool 5. Chips are removed while the static electricity on the resin substrate 1 and chip surfaces generated at this time is removed by a destaticizing blower 4. The resin substrate 1 is then put into a vacuum vessel and the surfaces of the tracking grooves 2 are irradiated with electrons 3, by which the surfaces of the tracking grooves 2 are finished smooth and the grooved master disk for the optical disk is produced.
