CONSTITUTION:Each multiple color head 6-9 is respectively controlled by a control device 5 via driving device 4. When monochrome recording is performed by using one of the record heads, both heaters 1A, 1B of each multi-heater 1 in both of end sections of ink passages 30 and driven. On the other hand, in the other ink passages 3, each heater 2 is driven in the same time. At that time, the amounts of inks ejected from ejection nozzles 3A, 30A of the respective ink passages 3, 30 are equal to each other. When full color printing is performed by utilizing all of the record heads 6-9, one of the heaters 1A, 1B of multi-heater 1 is driven. As a result, a heating area in contact with the ink in the ink passage 30 is reduced.
