Iron group metal has the function of filling the space among solid grains and also allowing the solid grains to move and undergo rearrangement according to the flowing of fluid. When the content of the iron group metal exceeds 20%, the hardness of a sintered compact is deteriorated. The self-lubricity of the free carbon produces superior wear resistance at the time of sliding.
