Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To provide a machine tool capable of shortening tool change time without increasing structural cost excessively. CONSTITUTION: A machine tool 10 having a spindle 16 rotating in a headstock 12 is provided with at least one grip member 26 inserting a tool holder 18 into a connectable position in the spindle 16 from a position where it is not connected. Furthermore, a connection means 35 moving the tool holder 18 at the connectable position to a connection condition in which the tool holder 18 is connected in such a way that it does not rotate with the spindle 16. A sensor device 48 recognizing the connection condition is also provided. In this machine tool 10, at least two connection conditions are provided, which differ from each other concerning relative angle matching between the tool holder 18 and the spindle 16. In this case, the sensor device 48 is formed so as to distinguish the connected conditions from each other.
