MANUFACTURE OF CONDUCTIBLE POLYMER PARTICLE

PURPOSE: To obtain conductive submicron polymer composite grains which are uniformly dispersed with conductive fillers over the entire part of a polymer matrix, are low in cost, clean and dry. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the conductive polymer grains, having straight chain parts and crosslinked parts (comprises mixing a monomer with the conductive fillers, solvent, polymn. initiator and chain transfer agent, subjecting the mixture to soln. polymn. under heating until about 80 to about 100wt.% of the monomer is polymerized to remove the solvent, drying the mixture to form a blend of the polymer and the conductive fillers, dispersing the blend of the polymer and the conductive fillers together with the polymn. initiator, crosslinking agent and chain transfer agent into the monomer to form an org. phase, dispersing the mixture of the org. phase into water contg. a stabilizing component, obtaining the suspension of the grains having an average volumetric diameter of about 0.05 to about 5μm in the water and heating the suspension, thereby polymerizing the suspension.
