Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain high reproduced output by suppressing the Barkhausen noise of a magneto-resistance effect element having transverse bias magnetic field and longitudinal bias magnetic field impressing means. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-resistance effect type reproducing head is provided with a soft magnetic film (SAL film) 30 for impressing bias magnetic fields, a nonmagnetic conductive film or insulating film 40 and a magneto-resistance effect film 20 on a substrate 70 and is provided with a pair of electrode films 10 via an antiferromagnetic film 80 on the magneto-resistance effect film 20. The ratio of the specific resistance and thickness of the electrode films formed on the magneto-resistance effect film is set at >=5OMEGA. As a result, the generation of the Barkhausen noise is sufficiently suppressed in the magneto-resistance effect type reproducing head which impresses the longitudinal bias magnetic field by the antiferromagnetic film.
