ON-LINE CHARACTER RECOGNIZING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide an on-line character recognizing device which evaluates again the character that is misrecognized to a specific input character and can simply and effectively relieve the evaluated character. CONSTITUTION:When a written character is read by a coordinate reading device 11, a feature point extracting means 12 extracts the feature points of component strokes of the written character. A stroke coding means 13 outputs the stroke codes based on the feature points extracted by the means 12. A matching means 21 secures the matching between the feature value of output data on both means 12 and 13 and the feature value of the pattern registered in a character dictionary 14 and then recognizes the characters to output and store the candidate characters in a candidate character buffer 22. A feature value re-evaluating means 30 decides whether a candidate character stored in the buffer 22 is coincident or not with a character code registered in a noted character dictionary 24. If not coincident, the candidate character is transmitted as it is. If coincident, the feature value is evaluated again and a new candidate character is transmitted.
