A vaporizing rust preventing tank 4 is set between the tension pads 3 and rolls 13, gas in a rust preventive agent vaporized in the vaporizing rust preventing tank 4 is brought into contact with the strips 11 passing through in the vaporizing rust preventing tank 4, and rust preventing treatment is executed. The vaporizing rust preventing tank 4 may be provided on the upstream side, and the fingers 2 themselves may be provided with such treated parts. Thus, the copper and copper alloy strips having an excellent rust preventive effect can be obtd.
