description PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a permanent magnet, by laminating, in order, a corrosion resistant formation film and a corrosion resistant resin layer formed by electrolytic deposition application, on the surface of a permanent magnet body whose main phase is composed of tetragonal phase, and covering the surface. CONSTITUTION:A corrosion resistant formation film and a corrosion resistant resin layer formed by electrolytic deposition application are laminated in order, and cover the surface of a permanent magnet body wherein the main components are R (where R is at least one kind out of rare earth elements containing Y) of 8-30 atomic %, B of 2-28 atomic %, and Fe of 42-90 atomic %, and the main phase is composed of tetragonal phase. After the permanent magnet body whose main phase is composed of tetragonal phase is subjected to formation treatment, the permanent magnet body is dipped in water-based paint. The permanent magnet body is applied to an anode or a cathode, and a DC current is supplied across said body and its opposite electrode. Thus the whole part of the permanent magnet body is electrically painted. A corrosion resistant formation film and a corrosion resistant resin layer are laminated in order on the surface and cover it. Thereby corrosion resistance of the permanent magnet can be improved.
