The compound is obtained by condensing 11-deoxo-glycyrrhizic acid with a phenylpiperazine of formula II by using carbodiimide. The compound is useful as a main component of a preventive and a therapeutic agent for infectious diseases caused by various DNA viruses, RNA viruses and retroviruses.
