When the edge part is recognized, the focusing is executed next so that the inclination of the waveform of the detected contrast becomes the maximum. This is because the edge part of the image is clearly projected under the state that the inclination is the maximum. When the focusing is finished, the magnification of zoom is returned to an original state and operation is finished.
