CONSTITUTION:In the sheet 2 conveying device, sheet holding means 16, 18, 20 with magnetic force are provided, and the conveyer 14 provided over all range of the sheet conveying section is provided. An inspecting part 28 which is arranged over than one place on the intermediate part of this conveying section and inspects many kind of states of the sheet to be conveyed, and a controlling part which controls a driving direction of the conveyer 14 based on an output of the inspecting part 28 are provided. Further, when the sheet passes through the inspecting part 28, the conveyer 14 is stopped in a prescribed time, if an abnormality is detected, the driving direction of the conveyer 14 is reversed with the controlling part, and if the abnormality is not detected, it is driven to the same direction. Therefore, the sheet 2 is reversely conveyed in the case of detecting an abnormal material of the sheet 2, the conveying operation is made continuously.
