Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To provide a Pt-bearing catalyst, which has a wider specific surface area than a conventional Pt-bearing catalyst, which uses acetylene black as catalyst carrier, and presents an excellent in the anti-corrosiveness against high temp. phosphoric acid. CONSTITUTION:Matrix is pinched between a pair of gas diffusion electrodes consisting of an electrode base board 2 and a catalyst layer 3, to form a phosphoric acid type fuel cell, whose catalyst layer includes a Pt-bearing catalyst 31 which bears platinum with acetylene black, wherein the Pt-bearing catalyst contains acetylene black 32 turned into mono-particles as a catalyst carrier. The acetylene black 32 turned in mono-particles shall have a mean particle size of 0.5+ or -0.2mum and a mean specific surface area of no less than 70m /g. The manufacture of Pt-bearing catalyst shall include the process of crushing the acetylene black of a structure in which mono-particles are bonded in the form of a chain and thereby turning in mono-particles.
