The reaction product is then hydrolyzed in the presence of an alkali (e.g. ammonia) or an acid (e.g. acetic acid) to form a gel. The gel is heat-treated at about 250-1000 deg.C to obtain a glass contg. dispersed silver. The glass is appropriately used as an antibacterial glass, a light control glass, a catalyst, etc.
