description PURPOSE:To obtain the high-polymer dispersed liquid crystal display element having high specific resistance and excellent reliability. CONSTITUTION:This process for production of the liquid crystal display element consists in forming a layer 20 which is constituted by disposing a liquid mixture 18 composed of a light transmissive resion 16 made to coexist in a liquid state and a liquid crystal material 15 having positive dielectric anisotropy and forming the liquid crystal material like water drops 16a in the resin 16a irradiated with UV rays 19 to cure the resin or continuously forming the liquid crystal in the resin or a layer 20 which is constituted by circulating the resin like wire meshes in the liquid crystal between a pair of electrodes 13 and 14. A material having a smectic phase in the low-temp. region of a nematic phase is used as the liquid crystal material. The liquid mixture 18 composed of the resin and the liquid crystal is irradiated with the UV rays in the smectic phase state, by which the resin in cured.
