description PURPOSE:To improve the erasing efficiency by increasing the saturation magnetic flux density of a magnetic core which is interposed between operating gaps to constitute a magnetic circuit in comparison with the magnetic cores constituting magnetic circuits on both sides of operating gaps. CONSTITUTION:Two erasing operating gaps G1 and G2 are formed, and a third magnetic core 3 uses a magnetic material whose saturation magnetic flux density is higher than that of first and second magnetic cores 1 and 2. Therefore, the distributions of erasing gap magnetic fields A1 and A2 asymmetrical with respect to gap centers are obtained in the parts of operating gaps G1 and G2, and the strength of erasing gas magnetic fields themselves is increased. Thus, the strength of the erasing magnetic field is increased, and the erasing efficiency is improved by double erasing due to two gaps.
