The barriers 5a and 5b and the stopper 10 are put back in place and a film substance 4 is dropped onto the surface of the water enclosed by the barriers 5a and 5b to be diffused. After volatilization of the solvent, the area of the water enclosed by the barriers 5a and 5b is reduced and a surface pressure is applied to the monomolecules in the barriers 5a and 5b to form a solid film 4. With the solid film retained with a suitable surface pressure applied by the barriers 5a and 5b, a clean base plate 6 is moved up and down in a direction transverse to the solid film 4 to accumulate the monomolecular films on the base plate 6. In this way the formation of pinholes in the accumulated monomolecular films can be suppressed. |
