VESSEL FOR MIXING POWDER WITH WATER

PURPOSE:To easily slurry even hydrophobic powder by setting a powder feeding hole and a pressurized water jetting nozzle opening downward at a position slightly higher than the level of overflowing water above a mixing vessel with a conical bottom and an overflow dam. CONSTITUTION:An overflow dam 1a is fitted to the side wall 2 of a mixing vessel 1 and the bottom of the vessel 1 is made conical. Powder 4a such as powdery activated carbon is fed from a powder feeding hole 4 set above the vessel 1 and the fed powder 4a floats on the surface of water in the vessel 1. Pressurized water is jetted from a pressurized water jetting nozzle 3 set at a position slightly higher than the level WL of overflowing water regulated by the dam 1a and close to the periphery of the vessel 1. The jetted water is accompanied by the powder 4a and a generated downward flow is guided to the conical bottom 1b and reversed as shown by arrows A. During circulation in the vessel 1, the water is mixed with the powder and stirred to prepare a slurry. This slurry flows in a slurry vessel 5 through the dam 1a.
