Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To recognize a final printing line correctly by a method wherein the presence of a mark stored in a symbol information memory is checked up from a position where a continuation of the mark is broken to a next line direction, a line to be printed lastly is decided to be a final printing line if the mark is not present, and the lowest line having the mark is decided to be the final printing line if the mark is present. CONSTITUTION:A detecting processor 2, relating to printing information of character extracting range, counts at 1 scanning unit a value binarized from an electric signal (change signal of white and black) to be detected by a reflection type sensor 47 positioned in a boundary of a blank part and a printed part of a paper face. When the counted value exceeds a predetermined value, the presence of the printing information is determined and a mark (character detection information) is stored in a character information memory 21. A line deciding processor 4 checks up the presence of the mark (character detection information) stored in the memory 21 from a blank line in a passbook 40 to a line direction having the printing information, so as to decide a line to be printed lastly in the passbook 40.
