description PURPOSE:To provide an antibacterial deodorant comprising a specific quaternary ammonium silt and exhibiting excellent antibacterial activity against gram negative bacteria, and having good yellowing resistance, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance. CONSTITUTION:An antibacterial deodorant containing at least one of quaternary ammonium salts of the formula (R is 8-22C alkyl, alkenyl; R , R are 1-5C alkyl; R is 2-4C alkylene; Ar is aryl, aryloxy; X is alkyl phosphate ester ion; m is 1,2), especially the ammonium salts having alkyl groups introduced on the nitrogen atoms, and capable of applied to cotton, cotton/polyester fibers, synthetic fibers, etc., to give antibacterial deodorant fibers having an excellent antibacterial activity against gram negative bacteria as well as against gram positive bacteria. Since the antibacterial deodorant does not cause the conventional yellowing phenomenon and fluorescent whitening-lowering phenomenon of fibers and further since the antibacterial deodorant exhibits excellent yellowing resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance and compatibility with anionic surfactants, the antibacterial deodorant is suitable for imparting the antibacterial deodorant effect to fibers instead of conventional silicone quaternary ammonium salts causing the thermal deterioration of antibacterial properties thereof.
