description | PURPOSE:To use an optical fiber bundle plate to a substrate and to obtain a fluorescent screen for a high grade image having excellent contrast and luminance by providing recesses on the phosphor layer side of the optical fiber bundle plate and forming the phosphor layer on the surface except the recesses. CONSTITUTION:Recesses 18 are formed by etching in using an acid on the surface of the core glass 101 of an optical fiber bundle plate 17. Phosphor particles 201 are deposited on the surface of the plate 17 formed substantially by the end faces of the covering glass 102 of the respective unit fibers, by which an output phosphor layer 10 is formed. Therefore, the particles 201 hardly contact with the glass 101 and the light emitted by the particles 201 by an electron beam propagates in the optical fibers while making total reflection therein as shown by (a), (b), (c) in the figure, thus obviating illuminating another position of the layer 10 and improving remarkably the contrast. The fluorescent screen for a high grade image having excellent contrast and luminance is thus obtd. |
