description PURPOSE:To reduce the cost and to increase a reliability by making a failure detection device for a power system simple-structured. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a magnetic sensor 11 which detects a value of a composite magnetic field generated by a current which flows in a power line pair 12b, 12c constituted of positive-side power lines and negative- side power lines of the same number as the positive-side power lines, a comparison device which compares an output signal value of the magnetic sensor 11 with the specified value, and a judgement device which decides whether there is any failure on the power system based on the comparison result of the comparison device. Since only one current detection system is required for the power lines, the failure detection device can be made simple-structured and the number of components needed is reduced accordingly. Therefore, the cost can be reduced while a reliability is increased.
