description PURPOSE:To adjust layout positions of gradation images and non-gradation images by using a hardware low in cost by a method wherein the gradation and non-gradation images are processed in separate devices respectively so as to be connected to each other by reference data generating means. CONSTITUTION:A gradation image is fetched in a layout processing means 12 from a gradation image input means 11, a layout operation is performed on a 1st display 13, a non-gradation image is fetched in a 2nd layout processing means 22 from a non-gradation image input means 21, and the layout operation is performed on a 2nd display 23. Here, the 1st layout processing means 12 is connected to the 2nd layout processing means 22 by a reference data generating means. Data relating to a layout border in the 1st layout processing means 12 is displayed on the 2nd display 23 by the reference data generating means 30. Accordingly, a position of the layout border of the gradation image can be confirmed during the layout operation of the non-gradation image. Thus, the layout positions of the gradation image and the non-gradation image can be adjusted by using a hardware which is low in cost comparatively.
