CONSTITUTION:An optical probe 14 takes out a flame image by way of an optical cylinder 15 and divides the image into a monitor TV 30 and an image expander 33 by means of an image distributor where the image is expanded with the image expander 33. A stepping motor 40 is arranged to move a light receiver 35 based on the instructions of a computer 32 and the partial images at several points in conformity with the purpose are incorporated. The images are fed to a waveform correlation analyzing device 39 by way of a waveform recording device 38 where various kinds of correlation are calculated and the calculated values are compared with a reference value of flame fluctuations predetermined by a comparator 42. The computer 32 evaluates the flame stability and flame holding performance at the flame position based on the evaluation results.
